Players take on the role of one of humanity’s subspecies: Sapiens, Neanderthals, Denisovans, or Hobbits.

Guide your people through a journey of evolution and discovery—expand your brainpower, develop language, explore distant lands, and tame bizarre creatures (yes, even war kangaroos and mammoths). Encounter the awe and dread of religion, dive for pearls, challenge divine powers, enslave rival hominins, and maybe even reach the Enlightenment.

While wars of religion and conquest can occur, the real battles often lie within. You’ll have only limited control over your own ruling class. If priests take charge and you mismanage them, expect to be overthrown by warlords or merchants hungry for power.

Victory comes not from global domination, but from mastering one of three paths: cultural, political, or industrial. In this game, a mystic atop a New Zealand mountain can outshine a war-hardened emperor who’s conquered the Earth.
