Pathfinder Adventure Card Game (Second Edition)
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game (Second Edition) is due to be released next month (May 2019). The core set and first expansion will be released at the same time. To celebrate the launch of the second edition we've put together a pre-order bundle for the core set and the expansion. You can preorder the core set, or the expansion, Curse of the Crimson Throne, separately.
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game is a complete cooperative strategy card game for 1-4 players (the expansion allows 1-6 players). Choose your character's class; build a deck of equipment, magic, and allies; and explore lethal locations as you journey through an exciting fantasy tale. As your adventures continue, your characters will add remarkable gear and powerful magic to their decks as they gain incredible powers, all of which they'll need to challenge more and more powerful threats.
The core set alone includes 440 cards! It also includes a 32-page rulebook and a 24-page storybook featuring The Dragon's Demand Adventure Path. Don’t worry about dice, the core set includes a complete set of 5 polyhedral dice.
The expansion includes 550 cards featuring a wide array of powerful weapons, magical spells, protective armour, versatile items, helpful allies, harrowing blessings, devoted supporters, and a base to help you face a host of vicious monsters, dangerous barriers, vile scourges, and perilous wildcards. A 48-page storybook featuring all 6 chapters of The Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path is also included in the expansion.
For those of you who have played the first edition, you’ll notice a change in the delivery of the expansions; and the cost savings! Whereas previously you’d have to have a base set for the new expansion, followed by 6 bi-monthly card packs, the second edition simplifies things. The core set will contain all the base cards you’ll need, so you don’t have to buy a new core set for each expansion. The expansions will include all six chapters in the expansion box. No need to wait, and you’ll save money too!
Aside from changes to distribution and cost-savings, the game play has changed to allow the players to control the difficulty and length of play. The blessings deck has been renamed the ‘hourglass’. Remove cards from the hourglass to have a faster, more difficult game. Add cards to make the game easier and give you more time to complete your adventure. Location size can also be changed.
